How ranking works
“Best match” order, in plain English (ranking version rk-1).
When you sort by Best match, we give each car a ranking score made up of these factors:
- Relevance: how well the car matches your search words, filters and distance: 40%
- Listing quality: the Cruizy score: 20%
- Verification: phone- or ID-verified sellers, and verified dealers: 12%
- Freshness: newer listings rank a little higher, fading over time: 12%
- Seller responsiveness: how quickly and how often the seller replies: 10%
- Price: a small lift for Great or Good price badges (never a penalty for no badge): 6%
Freshness halves every 7 days. Renewing a listing restores at most 50% of its freshness, so constant relisting doesn’t win. Listings with open moderation flags, suspected duplicates, or no engagement for more than 60 days rank lower.
To keep results varied, no seller has more than 2 cars in the top 10.
Paid placements
Sellers can pay for Featured. Featured cars appear only in clearly labelled slots (positions 1 and 6), marked “Featured” with the note “Paid placement”. They must still match your filters. Paying never changes a car’s position in the normal results and never changes its score.
A Bump moves a listing’s freshness date to now, within the same renewal limit above. It’s shown on our fees page.
Homepage spots sit in their own “Showcase” row, labelled “Sponsored”, separate from the normal list of cars.
Ads and sponsored cards are labelled on the unit itself (“Ad”, “Sponsored”, “Partner” or “Advertiser”). In search there are at most 2 sponsored cards and 1 banner per page, the first after result 4. They sit between results and never push a car down or take its place in the ranking.
Payment of any kind (upgrades, dealer plans, advertising or partner fees) never affects a car’s score, its scam flags or its organic rank. More on how Cruizy gets paid.
Other sort orders (price, kms, year, newest) are exactly what they say.
