Checking a car's history: PPSR, stolen status and odometer

Stolen status

The NZ Police publish a list of vehicles reported stolen in the past six months. Cruizy checks every listing against it daily. It doesn't cover unreported, very recently reported or recovered vehicles, or stolen plates, so do your own check on the day you buy.

Money owing (PPSR)

The PPSR shows whether a lender has registered a security interest over the car. You can search it yourself on the official PPSR website for a small fee. A buyer considering a purchase is a recognised reason to search.

Odometer history

WOF and COF inspections record the odometer. Cruizy shows the official readings where our data provider supplies them, and flags a listing if the stated reading is lower than an earlier official one.

Where Cruizy's data comes from

Each fact on a listing shows its source and date. Facts from official sources are locked; sellers can flag them as wrong but can't change them.
